Strike on Gaza school leaves 28 dead, as Israel claims target was terrorist command centre

In Gaza at least 28 Palestinians have been killed and dozens of others injured after an Israeli strike on a school being used as a shelter, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The Israeli military claimed it had struck a terrorist command and control centre inside the building – but witnesses said the attack hit a meeting of aid workers.

Six people were killed and 15 others were injured in a separate strike on a clinic in Gaza City.

And at the Jabalya camp – which has been under continuous bombardment for five days, another 4 people were killed. Israel claimed the deaths included Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters.

And three Israeli soldiers are reported to have been killed in northern Gaza.

Be warned – there are extremely distressing images in this report.
