Fleeing Venezuela and forced to leave children behind

When Venezuelans go to the polls this week, Nicolas Maduro could well secure a third term as President despite the growing economic crisis which has left much of the country in poverty or destitution.

Eight million people have fled altogether, determined to seek a better life abroad. And many of them have left their children behind, unable to feed or care for them.

For those who’ve remained, life at a time of crisis is desperately hard.
