Israel-Gaza: 400,000 residents ordered to leave Khan Younis

At least 70 Palestinians have been killed and more than 200 others are said to have been injured as Israeli forces launched a new offensive in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.

The Israeli military ordered around 400,000 residents to leave their homes for what it described as a humanitarian zone on the coast – an already overcrowded area which is being made even smaller.

The Israel defence forces accused Hamas of firing rockets at Israeli forces from Khan Younis. The latest bloodshed comes as Israel’s Prime Minister prepares to meet President Biden in Washington – where he’ll also address Congress later this week.
