1,700 prisoners set to be released early from jails in England and Wales

An estimated 1,700 prisoners are set to be let out of jails in England and Wales early to help ease overcrowding.

For their victims – particularly those who suffered domestic abuse – it’s a stressful time, and the Victims’ Commissioner has warned that some are still unaware that the person who committed a crime against them is being released early.
