Bibby Stockholm barge to close as asylum accommodation, vows Labour
The Home Office says it’s ending the use of the Bibby Stockholm barge for housing migrants, as the new Government begins to overhaul the asylum system.
Ministers said extending the use of the barge for another year would cost more than twenty million pounds so the contract won’t be renewed past January.
But it refused to rule out the use of hotels for asylum seekers currently housed there.
